"Pequenos Grandes Sorrisos" - 3º Prémio no Orçamento Participativo 2017 (Viseu)

O projeto "Pequenos Grandes Sorrisos", foi um dos projetos vencedores do Orçamento Participativo 2017, sendo uma proposta importante reconhecida pelo município de Viseu (tanto pelo Executivo como pelos cidadãos que votaram). O objetivo consiste na realização de tratamentos médico-dentários em crianças institucionalizadas de Viseu provenientes de meios e famílias carenciadas. Este projeto demonstra a importante componente de saúde oral comunitária desenvolvida no ICS-Viseu, culminando na obtenção de financiamento para a execução deste projeto.

The project consists in the education and promotion of good and adequate oral heath behavior's among the community, early diagnosis of oral diseases and application of preventive measures. During the contact with the community, epidemiological data collection is accomplished in order to characterize the oral heath behaviours in the population and understand the distribution and determinants of oral diseases, namely, dental caries and periodontal disease.

The main objective of the project is to fulfill the oral health deficiencies that exist in children institutionalized and signaled by the CPCJ. In this course it is made the characterization of the oral health of this population and thus the identification of the treatment needs. It is also possible to define the most effective forms of intervention for the promotion of oral health among this population.
